Search Engine Optimization

Posted in Computer Service on March 7, 2011 by mgpenn

What is SEO?  It is the process of making sure that your website has been written in such a way to get the search engines (google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) to list your website higher in the rankings when a search is conducted that your website pertains to.

There are a lot of ways to get the search engines to rank you higher (or lower) based on what information your website contains.  If you try to cheat it can actually make your rankings go down.

“So what do I do?”

That is a hard questions because the Search Engines are constantly changing the way they work

  • First,Think about your message and content, choose the keywords that describe your business,  choose the best, use the tools to see how they will help your rankings.
  • Second, make sure that your pages are ‘optimized’ and don’t have errors that can cause problems with the way the search engine reads your site.
  • Third, keep the content fresh!  If you havent updated your content and information in years, you will have problems getting ranked high.
  • Fourth, get friends, business partners, etc to link to your pages.  If your site has a lot of links to it, it will help with your rankings. (And be sure to reciprocate )

There are a lot of tools out there to help, but you may also want to contact someone who does this regularly.  A pro will know the best way and what to use and what to shy away from!

“My computer has viruses, what do I do?”

Posted in Computer Service on February 28, 2011 by mgpenn

So you caught a computer virus and you want to know what to do, how much it will cost and what do I do to prevent it from happening again.

Options:

Buy a new computer

Format and reinstall

Call a Professional

So the choices are there, and you should discuss each with your professional and make an educated decision on what to do.

Using a professional may be something that you don’t want to spend money on but in the long run your computer will be working for you and not causing you to think about taking a baseball bat to it. (I actually prefer a 7.62×39 from my AK-47)

And we begin
